Most of us had teachers when we were getting educated. They’re authoritative and tend to have the entire lesson prescripted, every single day. Guides, on the other hand are intended to only assist students in their individual quests for knowledge. It would stand to reason that an engaged student with a good foundation would benefit immensely from a guide, or learning coach. Is there a case to be made that an underperforming student would also benefit from the coached model, or in y’all’s experience, would they need the structure that a traditional classroom offers?
